This is probably the easiest of all my posts that I have done.   This is a recipe strictly coming from having way too many plums this year.  Literally we have had hundreds of plums and I have made all kinds of plum desserts and jams. I think if you were to buy all the plums it would be an expensive batch of lemonade.  This year we have had the biggest crop ever on plums and you can only eat so many and cook so many.  We gave away a lot of them as well and we were still left with hundreds, so I decided to take about 30 or 40 small plums and juice them.   We have fresh lemons on the property so I simply combine the two with a little water, sugar, and ice.  This is how plum lemonade was born.  I am sure someone has made it before but I have never seen it.  I'm sure if I do a search on it there will be a thousand recipes (I didn't look).  This recipe is all about seasonal fresh ingredients that we grow on the property here in Malibu and putting them together, letting the ingredients speak for themselves.   That is what I love about having a big garden and grove of fruit trees.

Plum Lemonade

3 1/2 cups of fresh plum juice

1 cup of fresh lemon juice

1 1/2 cup of sugar

4 cups of water

4 cups of ice

In a large pitcher add plum juice, lemon juice, sugar and water.  Stir well and add ice.  Stir again and adjust seasoning if needed.  The foam in the picture is natural foam from stirring but it will go away after some time sitting.  I made this recipe twice already and doubled it the second time.  It was a huge hit with everyone.  If you want to make it a touch better add a little tequila or vodka to it.   Drink and enjoy on a hot summers day!
